Due to the liberalization process of the Mexican electricity market, during the last 2 years a new regulatory model has been developed aiming to incentivize a greater participation of the private sector and new entrants in the generation and commercialization activities. Furthermore, the strengthening of the regulatory entities and the creation of an Independent System Operator (ISO) should secure the implementation of a transparent and efficient electricity market.
